Join us on Saturday, February 5th, to remember the pioneers who left Nauvoo in the winter of 1846 and beyond. Walk in their footsteps along Parley Street to the edge of the Mississippi River. Walk on behalf of an ancestor or another pioneer by wearing a nametag in their honor. Remember their sacrifice but also what they built along the way. Learn from their strength in times of difficulty.
We will start at the Family Living Center and walk to the Exodus Memorial for a flag ceremony and short program. Parking is available at the Family Living Center.
Blank nametags will be available for you to write the names of your pioneer ancestors. You may also select from some pre-preprinted nametags if you did not have an ancestor who lived here. Please dress for an outdoor winter activity. Masks will be required indoors. Bring you own water. Grab-n-go snacks will be available. Children are welcome but must be supervised.
If you wonder whether your ancestor walked the Mormon Trail, you can find out by going to FamilySearch.org, clicking on Activities and then All Activities. Look for the categories related to Nauvoo and the Trail. Research help will not be available on February 5th.
Additional details will be added as the date get closer. Check back for more!
