After many long months of being closed to in-person visits, Historic Nauvoo and Carthage Jail are now open for guided tours in select sites. Some summer musical performances will resume on May 31, 2021.
The Visitors’ Center will reopen on May 31, 2021. Please go to the Family Living Center on arrival to check in for your scheduled tour.
Please note that this initial phase is a LIMITED opening. Our hours have changed: we are open daily from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm. Plans will update throughout the summer as needed. Fall and Winter hours may also be impacted, but we plan to remain open.
Large groups cannot be accommodated and should split up into groups of 8 or fewer in order to tour the sites. Only visitors with reservations will be able to tour a historic site at this time. Please register in advance to avoid disappointment. If your schedule does not fit the tour schedule, consider taking a live video tour at another time.
The following activities are currently unavailable: wagon rides, carriage rides, oxen rides, and pioneer pastimes. Certain summer performances resume in June. The Nauvoo Pageant will return in 2022.
